Department of Geography, Faculty of Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in collaboration with Asian Geographical Association (AGA) is organizing 6th Asian Conference on Geography on ‘Climate Change, Urbanization and Sustainable Resource Management in Asian Countries’ during November 6-8, 2025. The aim of the conference is to invite attention of the scientific community, government and non-government organizations and policy makers for fruitful deliberations on climate change, climate adaptation, urbanization, environmental degradation and long term sustainability of natural resources.

The Asian Geographical Association (AGA) is an international non-governmental and non-profit scientific organization. It was established in 2018. The AGA through Asian Conference on Geography aims to provide a platform for academic communication, exchange of ideas and collaboration among Asian geographers. Its principal objective is to stimulate the development of geography in Asia through improved communication and cooperation among geographical institutions in member countries.

About Conference
Asian Conference on Geography (ACG) is a key event of the Asian Geographical Association (AGA), aiming at providing a platform for academic communication, exchange and collaboration among Asian geographers. Inaugurated in 2015, the first 5 ACGs were successively held in Shanghai, China in 2015. The AGA is an international scientific community established in 2018 during the 4th ACG. 23 geographical associations across Asia gathered in Guangzhou and co-founded the organization. Its principal objective is to stimulate the development of geography in Asia, to improve communication and cooperation among geographical institutions and also individual geographers in member countries.
About The Asian Geographical Association
The Asian Geographical Association (AGA) is an international, non-governmental, non-political and non-profit scientific organization, whose principal objectives are to stimulate the development of geography inAsia, to advance research and educational activities in all fields of geography in Asia, to promote thedissemination of knowledge of geography in education, business and governmental organizations acrossAsia and to improve communication and facilitate cooperation among institutions in member countries. TheAGA was formally established in Guangzhou, China at the 4th Asian Conference on Geography in 2018, inorder to promote development of geography in Asia. The AGA fulfils its aims through establishment ofworking groups, organizations of international conferences (Asian Conference on Geography, abbreviated toACG), publication of academic and educational activities and information exchanges. Membership of theAGA is normally by countries and regions. At present, 24 countries and regions of Asia are affiliated to theAGA through their national member societies. The activities of the AGA are steered by its Council and itsExecutive Committee.
About Jamia Millia Islamia
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) came into existence at Aligarh in 1920 during the Khilafat and Non-cooperation movement in response to Gandhiji’s call to boycott government supported educational institutions. JMI is one of the premier universities of the national importance and rank at No. 3 amongst the Universities of India as per National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2024. The university has a multi layered educational system with 11 Faculties, 45 Departments and 30 Centers for Research and Excellence that have given an edge to it in terms of critical research and nation building
About the Department
The Department of Geography was established with Honours program in Geography in 1971. The Department offers BA/B. Sc (Hons.) Geography; M.A./M. Sc. (Geography; P.G. Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS Applications & Ph. D. The Department comes under the Faculty of Sciences. It is a pioneer in the country for imparting education in Remote Sensing at Post Graduate level. The ISRO, Government of India recognized it and supported the Department for enhancement of DIP/GIS land. The DST, also supported Department as nodal facility in Delhi for conducting training programme in Remote Sensing and GIS for university and college teachers. The DST accorded the Department FIST-I status in 2016, and UGC-DRS SAP-I in 2017. The Center for Disaster Management was established in 2018. The aim of center is to train future managers and provide platform for scientific research for making disaster resilient society. The Centre offers P.G. Diploma in Disaster Management (Self-finance & Evening); M. Sc. Disaster Management and Climate Sustainability Studies (Self-finance) courses. The course is a mix of scientific understanding of hazardous processes and policy interventions.
